Quoted from the New\nVision of 06th May 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Government of Uganda has started a pilot land mapping\nexercise in the districts of Mityana and Kassada .<\/p>\n\n\n\n Over 3000 tenancy rights (bibanja) holders from Myanzi sub-county in Kassadda district and Gombe in Mityana district are some of the first beneficiaries of the pilot exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The bibanja holders received their land inventory (map)\ncertificates on Thursday the 02 May 2019 at the Kidukulu parish headquarters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The certificates shows the size of the land ,its location\n,neighbors and landlord. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The land inventory enables the tenants to negotiate with the\nlandlords on whether to buy out, sale, acquire a leases or get a certificate of\ncustomary occupancy over the land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The pilot project targets about 10,000 tenants in Mityana\nand Kassada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Further to this the tenants can get to know the size of\ntheir land which helps them certify their legal occupancy which actually\nprotects them from eviction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The mapping of the land is done for the willing tenants and\ntheir landlords.<\/p>\n\n\n\n GIZ together with their partners have been sensitizing and\nmapping land which is helping to resolve conflicts between landlords and tenants\nin Mityana and Kassadda.This exercise will go a long way in reducing land conflicts\non private mailo land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Regardless of having got their land mapped and received\ncertificates the tenants are encouraged to \ncontinue paying their ground rent commonly known as Busuulu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It should be noted that this Certificates are not Land\ntitles however the certificate can now help one get started with the process of\ngetting a title once you buy out.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Quoted from the New Vision of 06th May 2019 The Government of Uganda has started a pilot land mapping exercise in the districts of Mityana and Kassada .
