The president informed the residents of Kakumiro district where he had gone to officiate the commissioning of Kisengwe health Centre III which coincided with the belated Kakumiro district celebrations of International Women’s Day, these festivities were held at Kisengwe Training Centre in kakumiro District on Saturday 24th.03.2018.
President Museveni reminded the resident that Mailo land title owners should not bother them with eviction threats since strong laws protecting the Kibanja holder existed. He further informed them that the government was in the process of paying off mailo land title owners so that the individuals that were settled on this land. This promise however was conditional to the availability of funds to pay off the mailo title land owners.
He said that “As soon as the government acquires money, it will pay the mailo land title owners so that the land is transferred to Bibanja.” Further emphasizing the need to raise funds to execute these payments.
He mentioned that the current government priorities were roads and electricity, and once these are put in place, then there would be adequate money to commence the process of compensating payment of mailo land title owners.
